Default Compatibility question - 002 on Dell Studio 15 1394 port

Hi all,
just wondering if anyone knows whether my 002 rack will run on the 1394 port on Dell Studio 15 laptop I'm considering buying??

Cheers for any help,
Ryan.

Probably not without jumping thru a LOT of hoops. You will most certainly need a qualified firewire controller, and a secondary hard drive.

Thanks for that.
So the onboard firewire controller won't work with the 002?

Any suggestions for a 3rd party controller that will work with the 002 then? Machine has an Expresscard Slot.

Thanks again,
Ryan.

Out of the box" Dells are typically troublesome with Pro Tools. Reinstalling a fresh OS without all the bloat-ware and using a qualified firewire controller and audio drive will sometimes get things going for you.
