Default Disk Allocation/Template confusion - PTLE 7.4 XP

Hi folks -

Do I have to manually change the disk allocation file path when I create a new session from a template I've created?

I don't recall PT behaving like this before upgrade to 7.4

FYI I record my audio to Drive D:

Template: I have created my template and saved it in a folder on drive D:
Per instructions in the PT user guide and it says to make the .ptf "read only" which I did...

Disk Allocation:
I selected D: and it automatically selected the folder where the template is.

So I opened the template, "save as" <current session name> and did a test recording...

But it still saves the audio files in the template's audio sub-folder.

The only way round this is to select a custom Disk Alloction path for each new session, which I never had to do previously.

Is this the correct procedure?

The procedure that works for me is; create your new session on your chosen audio drive, then go to FIle>Import Session Data, and point to your template session and import everything. Your disk allocation was set when you created the session so you don't need to think about it. Every time you start by opening the template session, PT wants to use the template's disk allocation.(which is why I never open the template unless I need to make changes to it). PT8 changes how this all works so remember that if/when you upgrade.

Bingo!

This worked perfectly. Many thanks!

I have previously unsuccessfully tried the "import session data" method but I don't think I saved the new session first, then imported the session data.
