Default Audio Processing Conflicting with Other CPU Tasks?

I get this message when I have been recording for a while. It tells me to Decrease the H/W Buffer size in the Playback Engine. When I do that, I get a similar message telling me to INCREASE the H/W buffer size! What is the deal?

We need a lot of info to help, What DIGI hardware, computer/motherboard, cpu, RAM, hard drives, firewire card(if needed) version of PT, etc. Sounds like maybe your audio drive is not set to operate in DMA mode. Did you perform ALL the required tweaks in the PT installation guide? If you only have a single drive, you may need a second drive for audio(highly recommended). Is your system compatible?(see the compatibility page).

Where do I go to find out all of that?

I can tell you that I have a AMD Athlon XP 2500+, 512 meg ram, Win XP (SP 1), Pro Tools 6.4, Mbox (of course), 2 hard drives (Second for Audio). The motherboard is a V. Kocab 18P AO2, AwardBIOS v 6.00PG.

Don't know if this is the info you need or not.

Thanks.
