Are you using Pro Tools, if so what version is it?

Have you checked that you have latest plugin updates that are compatible with Pro Tools version (or whatever you are using)?

Default Re: For the love of god why?..i dont understand why my computer is so slow....

Hello zedhed and thank you for the reply here is my setup as follows

PT8LE updated and current (constant problematic system resource issues)
Mbox 2 Pro (constant problematic interference/white noise issues)
Axiom 61 Pro (constant problematic Hypercontrol Issues) i have Hyper contol In but no Hyper control out

As for the updates im sure they are all current but if they are not what would be the easiest way to update? and would you know of any specific updates i should be looking at?

thank you :)

1. You have two sets of different brands of Ram, that can cause problems.
I once upgraded my computer with the same brand, same type of Ram but ran into problems, because the Ram was a different production batch!
I would take out two sticks and see how it performs.
2. Did you install any mobo or graphic cards utilities?

I think you are aware that you have 8 GB but your system addresses only 3.19 GB, as you have a 32bit Win7.

Looks like you only have one HDD with three partitions. (Not sure so excuse me if I'm reading that wrong) A second HDD is required for recording sessions to rather than having PT exist on same drive as session drive. To be clear, PT needs to be installed on operating system drive (normally C:) and sessions saved to second drive (not same partitioned drive)

Win7 must have PT version 8.04 or higher. Not sure which version of PT8 you have.

Do you have latest drivers installed;

There are threads on the white noise issue so do a search and you may find some answers. I don't have links sorry.

I definitely think Win7 64 Bit would be better, but mainly for future proofing as Pro Tools is only 32 Bit (Compatible with 64 Bit only) at present anyway. However PT true 64 Bit can't be too far away and that will address being able to use much more RAM which I suspect is the point TCM is making.

Zed, be very careful. Bill D. may jump in to scold you for saying "need," and "second drive," and then enlighten us all for the umpteenth time that it could be a third, fourth, or fifth drive.

Yes correct TCM, i did ask the specialist i bought the ram off if this would not be a problem but obviously he was unaware of the delicate nature of the system and yes i am aware the system only addresses 3.19GB. the only reason i installed more was because PT8 keeps on asking for more and me being ignorant and frustrated threw more in just for the hell of it...sigh...i know stupid me :) i have also unlocked the 3GB switch if this helps at all

as for the mobo and GFX card utilities i have only installed what came with the drivers.

thanks TCM

Thank you zedhed yes i have PT version 8.04 and that is 3 separate drives we are looking at. PT8 installed on c: sky drive and my sessions on the warp drive.should i change to Win7 64bit now or iron this out first? cheers for the links as well i will bury my head once again :)

So you only installed the drivers?

Some of the GFX cds install automatically some boost or overclocking software. That is a big no go!
I got burnt once.
A simplistic approach is best.
