no hardware found pt 6.4 g4 mc help!!!!!!!!!

when i turn on my mac g4 i open pt 6.4 i get unable to locate digi hardware. make sure your hardware is connected and turned on. click ok when the hardware is ready. but all the lights are on on it can someone please help?????

It's helpful if you post your system specs, and I would start with the "General Troubleshooting" thread and the Comptibility pages if you haven't been there already.

man i thinks its teh pci card my mac is not reading the card it powers the digi but will not work my mc is a g4 350 mhz powermac 512 mem 80 gig plus the the original hard drive, dont know what else to say about it i moved it to all slots nothing, reinstalled 6.4 still nothing dont know

I guess that means you're using a Digi 001? If so, does the PCI card show up in System Profiler?

yeah i pull up the info in about this mac and under the pci/agp slots it wont show up the agp graphics card does but not the pci card man this really bites!!!!!!!!!

Did you try cleaning the contacts on the card/slots?

Any other bus mastering PCI cards?

no more pci cards except the agp graphics and i dont know how to clean the slots can you tell me how? and what to use?

You can use a pencil eraser to gently clean the contacts on the card. Unless the G4 is really grimey inside a quick shot of some compressed air should do the trick on the slots. Of course make sure you're grounded when you do this stuff to avoid static discharge.

It may not solve you're problem, but it's easy & cheap.

ok i come home and it works!!!!! great but why did it do that in the first place? i havent cleaned it yet is a known issue with the card? is it safe to leave my system running 24/7?
