Default I like ProTools!

I just feel like I'd like to post one about how good I think PTLE is! I've been using it for a couple of years now, had my ups and downs like everybody else but, in the final analysis, for the capital outlay, the power and quality of 001 is astounding. Right now, with 6.4 in 10.3.3, it's rock solid. I've toyed with the idea of a Mini-me, but listening as I write to a recent take of one acoustic guitar track I did, I can't justify spending that kind of money, despite what's said about 001's pre's and A/D; I'd have to spend again what it's cost to me to buy 001 and the Mac to run it! What I get now with 1 good mic. and 1 good guitar is just fine. To be sure, I use it mostly as a recorder for acoustic instruments and vocals, and my mixing skills and requirements are both minimal, but the results I get would have needed a big F***Off studio only 10 years ago. I'm sure that a major project would expose PTLE's shortcomings, but don't lose sight of how much this rig costs. I sure don't want to get into a slanging match with anybody about this, and having watched this forum for a while that might be a forlorn hope, but I'd like to put my two penn'orth in for Digidesign. I can't compare ProTools with DP or Logic 'cause I've not used them, and I have no need of midi which might mean I made the right choice in the first place. I'm sure the other app's have their strengths, but so does Protools, and in the bang-for-the-buck stakes it rates pretty high. Thumbs up for Digidesign.

it's cool that you're so content with what you have. we should all be that way. we'd be a lot richer.
it's sad how you start off with a digi001 and think you're gonna have great sound cause you don't know anything and then you're like ok well i need to get some better stuff and then the next thing and on to another and at this point i'm past the $10,000 mark and i don't know what the hell happened. i finally have my great sound, but make no mistake about it, it WILL cost you a pretty penny in the end. we are all doomed.

and anyway, it's all about the music. ...right?

secondspassed - as a matter of interest what did you buy to go past $10,000 and get your great sound? And, yep, I like ProTools too. A lot. mig
