For what it's worth, I know several people that had this problem and Digi has always taken care of the problem in an extremely timely manner - sending a new cable overnite (and the installation is very simple) or sending a call tag for the unit to be picked up and Digi does the repair with a 48 hour turnaround.

Yes, the problem seems to be prevalent.

I would be happy with a 48 hour turnaround. My first one was nearly a month. Which puts it on a level with your experience with Mackie and Apple.

had a similar issue with a Mackie amp and a 'known' defect on a power supply - guess how long THAT took to get fixed.

4 weeks.

My friends G5 with the faulty power supply? 2 weeks.

As electronics become more and more complicated, there are more opportunities for things to fail.

I'm not sure I would agree with that statement outright. I would suggest though that we do have an expectation these days that things will work fairly reliably. Maybe our expectations these days are unrealistic. Could be.
