Default UA Apollo

Finally a ultra low latency i/o from UA. ....and it is Thunderbolt!!!!!
Realtime UAD Plug-In Processing for Tracking, Mixing and Mastering

This is what Avid should of did, but who cares I love my UAD plugins and now I am going to be able to track through them.

This is the first alternative for guys like me who dumped there TDM system but didn't go HDX. Check it out!!!

Not bad, but still higher latency, and less I/O than HDX or even HD. Oh and it's still dsp so you barking against Avid's dsp system, and that dsp is dead because of native, then going on and clamoring an other dsp base system? You're not consistent are you, or only consistent in bashing on avid's products?

Oh and btw it's firewire.. you need to buy an optional card to get thunderbolt connectivity.

I was just gonna post about this and you beat me to it!

This looks like a great product. Plenty of I/O options, plus world class built in DSP effects to use when doing low latency monitoring, as well as mixing, plus more.

I'm gonna assume it sounds good as well.

The DSP here is a different application. It lets you run low latency direct monitoring, and have your choice of effects, only these ones actually sound good, as opposed to some other interfaces' DSP effects built for the same purpose.

It's a pretty nifty product, no doubt about it, for the entry price. Will suit many small and home bases studio for sure.

But again, wrong section, so this should probably be moved to the general discussion area.

I have been a TDM guy since 98. I just think Avid missed the mark with HDX. Which is why I didn't upgrade.
If Avid came out with a box like this. Even if it just handled the "Mix Engine" I would be the first to buy it, but UA beat them to the punch.

This is a Pro i/o for us Laptop users.

Imagine a Thunderbolt i/o from Avid with the same HD i/o A/D converters, it also had onboard DSP that handled the "Mix Engine" and offered zero latency.

That is the future of DSP!!! Not cards, the CPU can handle plugins. Pros want zero latency for tracking and Hi end i/o's,

There is a New Pro User base out there using Laptops. Right now it is HDX or nothing

This is what I've been saying since the introduction of HDX!!! Avid miss the boat on TB, on releasing an external process box!!!

This is SO what I wished OMNI was!

I would have paid $5K for this configuration with the OLD HD1 equivalent dsp on board from AVID.........

Only need to track through plugs.......... a few tracks...... 10 at the most ........ when in just playback mode let them switch to RTAS...........

Already moved on though.......... Kudos to UA......... may have to consider this......
