Default Mac G4/933 Burner

I want to ugrade my G4/500 to G4/933. The reason is so can use the Super Drive to burn DVD and of coarse CD. I'm very happy with my SCSI Yamaha 8x4x24 burner with "Waver Burner Pro", no coasters, no crackling, no pops.
I'm not really worried about cpu speed and slots as I'm using PT Mix3 with a PCI expansion chassis. But then I could flick off the chassis.

So what is the quality like?????

1. How good is the new Mac burner for CD.
2. Can I still use Wave Burner Pro for red book standard recorded CD.
3. How good is the DVD burner.

I believe Waveburner pro now supports the internal apple burner. However as far as I know, there is not yet a way for WB pro to talk to HD hardware, so you have to monitor it via the Mac's audio output.

Nick,

It works well. I recently upgrade my G4/400 to a G4/933 with SuperDrive. The drive works with Jam 2.6.2 and Toast 5.1, although I don't believe WaveBurner support is available yet.

Like you, I also have an external Yamaha 8424S, which has been great. I still prefer the Yamaha for Retrospect, due to its faster packet-writing speed. The Yamaha gets approx. 60mb/min with Retrospect, compared to about 25mb/min for the SuperDrive.

I'd say go ahead and upgrade. My PT Mix system is working great on the G4/933.
