Yeah!!! I have basically the same problem since I work with PT. Sometimes it even deletes regions that have audio in it (which is very bad) - I want to use it mainly for stripping out all the silence of tracks, made on a DTRS with a foley-maker and recordet into PT - it works sometimes and sometimes not. It also stops quite often in a region without any reason - could a programmer look into it - I would also send you files or whatever you need to proof it to you...

Default Strip Silence bug

I've go major problems using strip silence command. I've tried different settings, sometimes it will work, but othertimes it aborts in the middle without finishing the file. Also whenever I add pre/post roll, it aborts immediately without stripping any of the silence. I thought it would finally work in 5.0, but it acts the same as it has since 3.x. Any planned fixes in upcoming upgrades?

I gave up on Strip Silence a while ago because it is too unpredictable. I clear unwanted audio manually...this is where the SmartTool comes in very handy.
Anyone out there using it successfully?

I clear audio manually quite often with the smart tool. It works, but is very time consuming, especially when you have many edits per track. I really am just trying to compact all of the silence out of the tracks to save space on the hard drive.

If you consolodate a lot of regions to turn several multi faded sections into one region with no fades anymore, then strip silence gets your old regions back instead of having one giant region.
