Default Drag Song From Workspace CD Drive, vs. File > Import > Audio ?

PTLE 8.0.1
Windows XP Home SP2
Digi 003

If I have a 16-bit/44.1 PT session, and have my commercially manufactured and released CD in the computer's cd drive to import one song into the session, I can:
1) Open Workspace, and drag from:
Audio CD (D:)\Track01.cda into my Regions List (and wait a few seconds for PT to process)
or
2) Choose: File > Import > Audio , browse to the CD drive, choose Track01.cda, convert region, wait a few seconds for PT to process, select Region List destination...

Is Pro Tools doing anything differently in these two methods? I got errors in the first method a couple times, but not sure if just an anomaly (a tiny drop-out visible in the wave; and channels reversed, one time)

I use both methods for importing audio

When importing from an audio CD I typically use the Import Audio (shift+ctrl+I) so I can play/audition the track I want to import, and I also want it to go to the region list rather than a track.

When Importing audio from another session I always use Import Audio as I want to make sure I copy (not add) the audio to the new session. This way you can also import more than one file at a time.

When importing sound effects or samples from a library I almost always use drag and drop from the workspace to a track.

Personally, I use Exact Audio Copy for ripping audio. Yes, it is an extra step but it's worth it for insuring the best rip from an audio CD.
