Default PT12 AND FOCUSRITE 6i6

Hi guys,

Is there anyone using a Focusrite 6i6 2nd gen with PT 12? There's an 18i20 (1st gen) in a studio where I work sometimes, and there were serious problems before the unit started working. I spent about 2 weeks with Focusrite support, but most of the suggestions didn't work until I was finally told about the right combination of beta drivers and MixControl software.(I had tried other combinations without any success) Even now, there are some days when I have problems, and have to reinstall the drivers.

Good clean and open sound, but the drivers suck. Now, I'd like to buy a 6i6, reasoning that the old driver problems must have been solved in V2. I'd like to know if anyone is using this successfully and smoothly with PT12? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

There have been driver issues with Focusrite and Windows. Best Windows drivers I've found come from RME. Unfortunately, RME is (far) more expensive than Focusrite, at least in the 6i6 range.

And UA Twin Duo and Twin Solo!

Awesome Drivers and way better sound quality than Focusrite 6i6 and all those interfaces,

If you want a good Focusrite get the Clarett or RED line as thats where it starts to get serious.

Thanks guys.

There have been way too many driver problems with Scarlett and Windows. I'll have to
reconsider my decision. I agree, the Clarett seems promising.

Since the Clarett line is also from Focusrite, I'm not sure the drivers will be any better. As stated previously, RME probably has the best drivers of any manufacturer.

I had Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 1st gen on my Win 10 rig and it worked great with beta drivers though I haven't exhibited any problem with official driver (yeah, pretty old one).

Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 2nd gen is the model I got some time ago and it's obviously superior to the first gen in any aspect. Drivers since October and specially from beginning December really shines.

AFAIK Scarlet, Clarett and Red 4Pre range shares now the same platform regarding the drivers and Focusrite Control that's good sign in future proof for drivers development. Recent version is 2.1.5. There's even cute monitoring app for iPhone/iPad.

Hi there I am using 18i20 2nd gen with no problems, so first off make sure your not using the PRO TOOLS FIRST driver, may be obvious but still worth a mention, ensure that the foccus mix control sample is set to the same as your session 44 / 48 etc. If your still not getting any sound try trashing PT preffs and start a clean session, if the sound comes through, then close it and load up your work session.
