Question Mbox DEMO driver problem

Today I ran into something I've never seen before...
A client with a Powermac G5 Dual 2.0 was trying to run PT 6.7 on Mac OS 10.5.8. When launching PT, the error saying another application was using the digidesign hardware would pop up. The digi core driver wasn't loaded, so i was perplexed. I checked the Audio-Midi panel and saw something bizarre, two digidesign drivers. The odd one said Mbox DEMO Analog.
I did what I could to remove the drivers, used the uninstall app on the PT install CD, flushed ever last bit of digi stuff I could find on the system.
The Mbox DEMO driver persisted.
I installed 7.4.2 standalone driver, and it wouldn't work.
Here's a screen shot.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Pro Tools LE 7.4.2 or Pro Tools LE 8 is required for Leopard

Pro Tools 6.7 runs on OSX 10.3.X Panther.

You need to get PT 7.4.2 if you're going to run Leopard - simple as that.

Full compatibility details:

Also, maybe try using 'AppZapper' to delete all related files to Digidesign instalment.

Unhappy Re: Mbox DEMO driver problem

Yes, I am well aware that 6.7 doesn't work with 10.5.8.
That's why I did everything possible to uninstall and remove every component possible. There is no app left to zap.
After removing it all, the DEMO mode still persists.

Then I installed the 7.4.2 stand-alone driver, but I see that is incompatible.
Is there a standalone 8.0 driver for 10.5.8?
All we want to do is use the Mbox with a core audio app like Twisted Wave, at this point. The client doesn't even need to use Pro Tools anymore.

The last stand alone driver is 7.4.

Thanks caruso7r, that lets me end the wild goose chase for something that doesn't exist. Time to retire the Mbox...

Yep, that's the driver I downloaded that didn't work since we are running OS 10.5.8.

It's possible that DIGI is working on a new core audio driver though.

Re-install the original problem - so if this all started when you installed or tried to install PT 6.7 then install it again. Then you can use 'AppZapper' to locate all of the installation files (Or use 'Yank' - that will show every file and location where things have been changed or installed) and delete all traces of stuff that's causing your problem.

As far as I'm aware, the Mbox IS supported on OSX 10.5.8 for core audio so you will be able to use it with PT 7.4.2, PT 8.0.1 and a variety of 3rd party apps like Twisted Wave.

Sounds like reinstalling the DEMO is the only way to go, this side of wiping the system.
I don't think my client has a clue where he got it, since it was probably installed when he got this computer (Powermac G5 2.0 Ghz). I'll see if he can dig up the install disk, perchance...
