Melodyne Cursor keeps reverting to arrow in ARA

Hi folks!

Just upgraded to 2023.3, and I'm having some frustrating behavior in Melodyne in ARA. When using the Main tool, which normally will change to a Note Separation tool when hovering over the top of the blob, it flashes into the Separation tool for a moment, then reverts back to the arrow. It will separate the blob, but it's a little confusing.

Similarly, when using the pitch tool in any of its variants (modulation, drift), the cursor reverts back to an arrow. Same when trying to access the glide control when using the pitch tool. You kinda have to guess where your cursor is and hope for the best.

Basically seems whatever tool you're using will just revert back to the basic cursor arrow.

This does not happen when using the plugin version of Melodyne, only ARA.

Yeah I get this as well. "One of those things." Desperately annoying when you can't tell what tool you actually have selected.

I see this here reasonably often in the regular plug-in mode (not ARA). Seems like this cropped up in the last version or two (maybe when I moved to M1 / Ventura). I've learned to ignore it - the tool is in fact in its last selected state despite being an arrow - but it is confusing.

Interesting. The plugin mode works fine over here.

And it's the same for me, where the behavior is that of the last selected tool, but it's really tricky hwne trying to use tools that function differently depending on where they interact with the blob, like the main tool, or the pitch correct tool when trying to modify the pitch transitions or glide between globs - it's a straight up guessing game.

This could be a sticky thread as well. Pro tools 2023.3 (still, earlier 2 versions same problem) under Ventura 13.2.1, it's a nightmare to edit Melodyne notes in the ARA window. Little tip: make a (random) selection in the pro tools edit window, then the cursor in the Melodyne ARA window will follow the selected tools. During playback , or when nothing is selected in the PT edit window, it's a pain to do any edit work with Melodyne ara.

hellooooooo, anybody there? Unless no-one uses the much requested Melodyne ARA , or pro tools is only used by hobby musicians who are perfectly fine with looking for the actual mouse cursor edit-symbol for 2 minutes per note blob, this should be a typical FIX THIS YESTERDAY bug.

This is more than likely a Melodyne issue and not a Pro Tools issue. Celemony needs to provide the fix(my opinion).

FWIW, I submitted a support request to Avid about this, and they told me that it's been logged as a bug PT-299732, and is being investigated.

Almost makes me wonder if avid support uses pro tools themselves so now and then , if they need to investigate such an obvious bug, existing since the launch of ARA in pro tools. But that counts for a lot of bugs. Anyhow, glad you sent it in to support!
