Default Digi 001 mixer question

I just got a Digi 001, and I'm looking for a cheap way to preamp mics for inputs 3-8. I was looking for something from $100-$200, but i couldn't find mixers in that price range that gave an output for every channel.

But then I came across this: http://www.zzounds.com/item--HOSDOC10.

Do you think that I could buy a cheaply priced mixer with 6 mic inputs and an insert on each channel and use that cable to give each channel a direct out to the back of the 001. If so, does anyone know of a mixer that has 6 mic ins and is somewhere from $100-$200?

Yamaha MG10/4, $200. I didn't check if any Behringers in that price range have inserts... but Behringers have a BAD reputation here

I wouldn't spend $60 on those cables, I'd build my own for about half that.

How would I go about building my own cables?

If you can get along with less than 6 pre's, find a used Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro. It has four very decent mike pre's wih inserts for direct out. I just saw one on ebay for $150. I own one of these myself and I've had good results doing this. The VLZ's are quiet and sound good. Make sure it's a VLZ and not the earlier (non VLZ)1202.
Good Luck,
David

I use two mackie 1202 VLZ, you get two out by main an two alt 3-4 sou you have six direct out,on the other mackie you get the others two,so you have six more two in Digi finally 8 outs I think is the cheapest at list I found, in USA wilbe cheaper than here(Chile)

I noticed that this mixer only has inserts on four of the channels with mic pres. Is there any way I could get direct outs from the other two channels?

You could use the sends or the main outputs for the other two. Not quite as direct.

Or course, the cheapest way to get more inputs is the Behringer ADA8000. 8 preamps a/d/a on lightpipe. Some say it doesn't sound too bad, others are more critical. $200.

How would I use the sends and main outputs for the other two? I'm not very famliiar with mixers. Could I run all six channels simultaneously?
