Multi Client Midi
A glaring limitation of most currently available MIDI device drivers - they accept only one client program, session or connection. While this is nice as long as there is no more than one program active that uses the MIDI device, it becomes a real nuisance when there are more programs running concurrently that want to share the same device. Using Windows' standard MIDI driver, MIDI Mapper, it is not possible to open multiple MIDI sequencers without getting a Windows error message. The only way to open more than one MIDI program in Windows is to install a "multi-client" driver for your MIDI device.[bleep]I am not able to find this so called multi-client driver at all.
In Pro Tools 10 (for now) this is occurring, whether I want it to or not. I've tried deselecting the midi device from PT, however it is still seeing my device in the system and not allowing this device to connect to other software running at the same time as PT. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts regarding this issue? |

Re: Multi Client Midi
Yes this is the confusing part, I've actually deselected the Midi device from "Input Devices", but I still see it available as an 'emulated' port when setting up HUI peripherals. I am not actually assigning any port of my device in PT, but its useless anywhere else because PT is just "open".
So if my midi device is deselected in "Input Devices", you would think PT wouldn't even be looking at it. Really Hope to find a solution |
