Default Can VCA Master be used as automation Trim in "vanilla"?

Latest reference manual I found is marked 12.1, so not sure what is HD and not.
(no install yet, I wait for an iLok to arrive)

It states automation Trim is HD only - true/false?

But figured, you can just use VCA master to do the same thing, or?
Even just assign, adjust VCA fader, and then unassign again - it would change all automation for a track in a relative way?

I guess with Trim, possible sends will be standard and not adjusted as with VCA.

Thanks.

What is the goal here? If its to do an overall adjustment to a track that has automation in place, there are several ways to accomplish this.
#1-Adjust the output of the last plugin on the track
#2-add the TRIM plugin after the last inserted plugin and adjust
#3-advance past the last breakpoint(showing the VOLUME line) and drag the line up/down

Given that the latest update to 12 gives VCA's to everyone, yes, that can work too, but seems like the "long way 'round" to me

Spot on, plenty good thinking here - thank you for that.
Why complicate things - a trim of last inserts do exactly what I want.

Only time to use VCA I can think of then would be if to export using OMF/AAF - getting automation with it. Plugins are lost.
