Default 002 power failure issue?

hey guys..
i was using my 002 unit 2 weeks ago and it all of the sudden stopped working. i was playing my ipod through one of the imputs and all of the sudden i heard some clicking and then nothing. the only action the unit is doing is that the scribble strips are lit and i can not "reset" or perform anything else. has anyone experience this before.. is it the infamous power failure issue? what should i do..

thanks
jt.

I'm not sure your problem is the dreaded Power Harness issue but here a little information on the power harness issue:

The power harness issue on Digi002’s and Digi002R’s:
This is a known problem and is easily fixed. The interface doesn’t connect and the red mute light stay’s on while soft clicking is heard inside. It is caused by oxidization on the connection points on the wire harness. Simply open up the unit by removing the many small screws and wiggle the connections. Place a telephone call (not email) to Digidesign customer service and tell them your issue and once they determine this is your problem, they will ship you a free replacement power harness to install.

If you are the registered owner, DIGI will usually send a replacement for free regardless of how old it is. You can install it yourself in about 20 minutes(the first time) but you may also correct the problem by simply reseating all the connections several times to scrub thru the oxidation that builds up on the pins. Just go slow and observe how/where everything connects and have at it. A tiny screwdriver is handy for prying up the locking tabs on the side of the connectors. If its the mixer version, go slow when you remove the bottom panel as the power supply is mounted on the bottom and you will need to unplug it to get the panel out of the way, so make note of how the 2 connections are attached to the power supply.

Good deal. You may need to repeat every 6 months or so but now you know what to do so it will go faster.
