Default Use caution when buying on Ebay

First of this is not a post as a mod

Ebay is great for many things, to get gear used or new for cheaper, or stuff that you wouldn't find at a local store near you. I love it even if I don't buy from it too often. But any one that is buying on ebay should really do so with due diligence and do proper research before buying anything on there, no matter what the score of the seller is.

As such I noticed this little add today

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pro-Tools-10...-/321132299380

And I'd like to remind every one that PT 10 or HD 10 can be forced to work on windows 8, but it's not supported yet. Good thing there's users here that would be able to help you if you hit a snag, but it's one of these case that a title can be misleading to new users that may not do their research.

Also, posting as a fellow user....

There are quite a few red flags with that auction:

1. Price is way too low for HD license
2. HD10 license can't officially be transferred by AVID without it's associated hardware
3. Seller has 0 feedback.

I agree. I buy licenses from ebay all the time, and one should use caution each and every time

The red flag for me is; no mention of iLok or the usual $25 "shipping" fee that most sellers add to cover the iLok transfer fee(could be a crack for all we know). Then there's the zero feedback......

When I asked this guy about it, he responded "Don't ask a lot of questions if you don't intend to buy it." He actually stated that you don't need an I-lok if you're running Windows 8, and gets VERY cranky when you ask for particulars about exactly what it is he's selling.
