Default Installation problem: 4.3.1 - 5.1.1

I just bought the 5.1.1 update. I've been using 4.3.1 on OS 8.6. I downloaded and installed the update. I updated OMS (from 2.3.6 - 2.3.8) and added the Sound control panel from OS9. However, when I try to run Pro Tools I get the following error message:

"The application Pro Tools has quit because "SoundLib --SoundConverterFillBuffer" could not be found"

...and then it quits.

What the heck is this SoundLib file and how come it wasn't installed with Pro Tools? Please help!!!

Thanks in advance

Get at least the latest Carbonlib (for OS 8.6) and Quicktime from Apple.

You also really might want to consider upgrading to OS 9.1.

Regarding the question why everything isn't installed by the Pro Tools installer (or isn't included in the application itself), that's of course a good one...It just happens that many developers rely heavily on code libraries made by other people...Kind of "Why reinvent the wheel, if it's already done by someone else?"

-This error is caused to an incompatibility with Mac OS 8.6 and its accompanying version of QuickTime.

-Per the compatibility documents, Mac OS 9.0.4 and QuickTime 4.1.2 are the minimum requirements for PT 5.1.1: http://www.digidesign.com/compato

Oooooops, sorry. After I posted this topic I looked a little closer at the System Requirements... Duh! I downloaded the upgrade and got a little excited...
