Default Closed or Open Backed Headphones?

I can bet that this has been discussed before. Could someone please post a link. Failing that, we could just discuss it here (again).

In a StereoPhile review, it was hinted that closed equates to a fuller sound(?)

If that is so, could that be misleading?
