Access Violation in a session
After recording for a few months without problems, I encountered my first problem yesterday while recording. The scenario is as follows:
I was in the middle of a normal session doing a re-take of a bad vocal part. I enable record and click play.(I'm in destructive mode) Pro-Tools then freezes and does not respond. Windows Me is functioning fine. I ctrl-alt-delete to check the program status and it displays that it is not responding. I cancel the task manager to wait a few more seconds before rebooting and pro-tools un-freezes and displays a dialog of "Access Violation Occured" and it has "OK" as the only option. I hit OK and PT returns, but I cannot record anything. At least I could save the session. I then Reboot, and the same thing. I finally thought of removing the .wav's for the track I was recording and see if a wav was corrupt in the session. I removed the .wav and everything works fine now, Other than loosing the track. My primary concern on this whole issue is why did this happen and how can I prevent it from happening again. |

Re: Access Violation in a session
staylor,
One possibility is that one of the wav files from the track that you were trying to re-record had it's file attribute set to 'read only'. Marc |

Re: Access Violation in a session
mlemos,
I don't think this was the case since I had actively been recording this track just seconds before. Thanks for the reply, Shawn |

Re: Access Violation in a session
a shot in the dark: try going into disk allocation and resetting the root media folder.......
and also try going into windows explorer and right click on the audio files folder and check and then uncheck read only...
