Windows 7 problems installing PT9 update 9.0.5
Anyone else having problems with this update??
I've downloaded the ZIP files, but when unzipping to make the install, Windows 7 (64 bit Professional) throws up its hands in horror and gives an "Error 0x 80004005" with the message "An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem". Having searched, I get a downloadable tool to solve the (??registry) problem, but it refuses to run in Windows 7. Any ideas? Thanks, Adrian Lucas |

Re: Windows 7 problems installing PT9 update 9.0.5
It may be a corrupt download.
Have you tried re-downloading PT 9.0.5? What program are you using to unzip? Perhaps try another program like WinRar, 7-zip or TugZip. You may want to scan the Hard Drive to see if there are any errors. Go to Computer. Right Click the Disk you want to check. Choose Properties. Click the TOOLS tab. And under ERROR CHECKING click Check Now. Then make sure both boxes are Ticked, and run the scan. You may want to run Ccleaner if you think it is a registry error. Have you updated Windows 7 to SP1 yet? If not, you should, it is an approved update.

Re: Windows 7 problems installing PT9 update 9.0.5
What he said^^^ and, if the system works with a previous version of PT9, I would avoid 9.0.5 for now. Read the DUC and you will see lots of issues with 9.0.5.

Re: Windows 7 problems installing PT9 update 9.0.5
I read the DUC a lot and there are so many folks having troubles that seem to pop up AFTER they install the 9.0.5 update. Any time an update is offered, the first thing to do is read what it addresses. If it doesn't mention any problem that you actually have, there is no real reason to install it. If you DO install it, ALWAYS(and I mean always) have a backup plan. Mine is to save a drive image or clone to a spare drive BEFORE installing any update.
