How do you turn off tab to automation break point?

I am not seeing it in the preferences, nor is there any button near the tab to transient, so I so hope this new "feature" is something that we can easily disable? Also, double clicking clip no longer selects the whole clip, but the portion of automation. This is so frustrating, as often times you want to adjust an entire clips worth of automation up not a little section of it.

Not sure you can at this time(though I know it is a known request), but maybe a slight change in technique can help? Try showing the automation in its own lane and place your cursor on the waveform lane. For me, this works

Thank you for the response. Though I may be stuck, I am not a lanes fan, particularly with high track counts. The current project and mixing today has 12 people on four dialogue tracks each (boom, lav, boom-pad, and lav pad). I will cut these down to just 12-24 tracks, but adding automation lanes for even 12 tracks, requires a lot of scrolling, not to mention a separate set of lanes to change functional sizes on. Before the "upgrade," A simple option minus key, and I am hiding and showing all of my volumes, yet now with broken shortcuts such as tabbing and selecting, I'll either require more steps or more "tracks."


I hope this is just a massive oversight on Avid's part, not how things will be.

What if you open the automation in a lane below the waveform rather than on top of the waveform? I tried it and it seemed to work the old way.

That has been the only way I've done it if I need to look at the waveform as well.

Otherwise I just locate to where I need and toggle the automation view for that track.

That's what they were saying, there's 48 tracks to look at so separate lanes become unmanageable.

It's funny, I've wanted this feature for a very long time but never thought it would have no toggle

As I am mentioned in the comment above yours, it doesn't work so well with a ton of tracks to have the lanes. I guess what peeves me the most about it, is why take a feature away from users? I'm assuming they just overlooked doing this and will add it in the future upgrade.

Aha. Ok, I wasn’t getting that adding the lanes below was not an ideal work-around to avoid this new feature.

Check out 2023.6. I think it has the option to turn off breakpoint tabbing.
