Sax mic poll

I'm not really crazy about my microphones for close mic'ing a sax. What are your favorites? Looking for a Nelson Rangell(sp) Steve Cole type of sound.
P.S. not to be rude but I've already got the other stuff covered ie. Room, Player, Sax, Reeds, Mouthpeice. Just looking for Mic preferrences, but go ahead and list a pre if you have a personal fave for Sax. Thanks.

Octava makes this crude looking ribbon mic that looks like a first generation attempt at an electric shaver...It sounds wonderful though on saxes. I'll find out the model number when I get to the studio.

Thanks guys, I'm looking at the Royers (R-121, R-122, sf-1)the Beyer m160 and the coles 4038. Any idea where I can get the 4038 online? Their website was less than informative.

Hey Blairl, I wonder if that's the same mic that Ppine was talking about. I have to admit that I'm a little afraid to scoop it up (mainly because the Octava mics that I've heard sound like $#!!) But at that price it's almost worth the risk! I need a little convincing, does anyone else endorse this mic? Not just price for performance, but would any of you actually choose it over the Royers or Coles if you had both?
