Re: Best Laptops for PTLE
Can anyone suggest the least expensive route of "light-piping" to the Digi002?

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE
do you need mic pres or not? You can find used Swissonic AD24 and DA24 converters for a few hundred each - they're excellent 8-channel analog XLR to lightpipe converters. They don't have pres, however.

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE
Thanks..I'll check into that. I'm also looking into a laptop. The Acer Aspire 1804WSMi seems like it might be a prospect, being as I cannot find the 1524 anywhere. Anyone using the 1804 machine, and if so...how goes it? Do we know it's compatability status, or test results? Thanks.

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE
I've been looking at the Acer. The previous Centrinos had impressive results so a 2gHz Sonoma should be a powerhouse. Should be compatible but I do wonder about the heat and fan noise it might generate. Tightly packed laptop with a fast chip is not a good recipe for a quiet machine.

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE
Is anyone using a Compaq NX9010 successfully with an MBOX or 002? It's a 3Ghz Pentium 4 model.

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE
Hi to all, It's my first post here in DUC.
So, I'm new to ProTools LE (6.4). I'm trying an Mbox on my laptop: ACER Aspire 1692WLMi. It is a Intel Centrino 1.7 GHz with 512 MB of RAM. I'm testing the latency of M-Box, and unfortunately I can't go down from 1024 samples. This is too large for my task, because I need playing live guitar, passing it through some RTAS plugs, like Guitar Rig. At 1024, often I can hear digital crackles. It seems that drivers can't manage the huge amount of data sent by laptop and audio card. Do you know if I can solve my problem, or it is the maximum value I can achieve with MBox? Maybe it is the slower USB1.1 interface? Have DIGI002s this problem? thanx best regards dm |

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE
So I have to change my new laptop?
I haven't bought M-Box. A friend rent it to me for some days. Do you know if Digi002 works better with FireWire? bye |
