Default Focusrite liquid saffire 56 and PT 9 BIG PROBLEMS!

I would really appreciate any help from you guys here...I am having a lot of problems with this set up. one problem I will have is when loading PT 9 it will say "pro tools hardware is not installed or is in use by another program",, I also notice that no matter what sample rate I set my saffire mix control to, when loading PT is clicks and goes to 96, witch then makes PT throw up an error. I hope to the god of audio that one of you PT pro's out there know of these problems and can help me, I am so ready to throw this saffire 56 out of my window ....thank you !!

I am on win.7 64bit

PS. I have tried to disable my computers audio and it still dont work!!

Mac or PC?
Win 7 32 or 64?
Firewire card?

Install sis soft sandra and post a system report.

I just fought the good fight this weekend getting this unit up and running. What a huge investment of time. The Directions were some of the worst. Do a search here, there is some real good information about this unit. You are not alone with these errors.

I posted above I am on PC WINDOWS 7 64bit. Thank you for your time..your right, the directions are a joke...I just cant seem to make the mix control stop changing to 96k when I start PT 9..I set it for 48, then launch PT..and BAM. it sets it's self back to 96, and of course that messes up PT..not to mention the "PT hardware in use crap".. I will post the sandra in a sec. Thank you again for you time!!

I am not on of the experts here for sure. I was really tired last night and I missed your O/S in plain sight!

Like many, I did so many things to my system in the past few days to get this to work, that I really do not know how or what I did, or in what order. But I am almost done with the setup, and the unit is working well.

Wireless Adapter 1 : NETGEAR WG111v2 54Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter (802.11g (ERP), 54Mbps)

Disable you wireless network adapter first. See it that helps.

"FireWire/1394 Controller 1 : RISQ Modular Systems FW322/323 IEEE1394 OHCI FireWire Controller"

The changing of sample rates might be due to the firewire communication. The W7 64bit firewire needs to have the legacy driver installed. Link Also the firewire s/b the Texas Instruments chip. Avid Link Focusrite link

Getting into PT with the that error was a huge problem. I installed the 9.01 update which didn't help. One thing I did was reinstall the firewire driver back to the TI listed in device manager, not the legacy. And not launching the Mix control, I could then get into PT. ( I have switched back to the legacy and now run fine) Once I was in, I created a new session at 24/48 with one track. Then I setup the I/O's using these screen shots from MEADS thread link and then exported them. I also set the session at 256.

I see you posted and found that thread. That is the biggest help on the web right now for the Saffire 56 and PT's.

What sample rates are you getting? I cannot see 128 or 64. This is my next mission. Finding out what ASIO driver I am using.

I thank you for your help, this is a pain!!!

I am using the legacy driver right now..

The thing is that I have used this firewire card since the 003 came out and it has always worked fine until now!! I use mainly 48k sample rate..so what I do is set the mix controls SR to 48, then I click on PT and as it is loading I can hear the saffire clicking as it is defaulting back to 96..sometimes I do manage to get to the point where I can open a session and then the buffers will be way off...the mix control will be at 256 and PT will be at 512..so of course I try and switch it in either one and I get either "ASIO devices have been changed by the device control;l panel" Or i will get "Pro tools hardware is either not installed or is being used"..Today I finally got a session open (dont know how) and I get a runtime error that says "Pro Tools has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way"...I dont know what else to do...I will try to disable my wifi next..I really do appreciate your help a Lot, thank you!

PS. I am going to try this with cubase 5 also and see if I have any troubles!! Just so I am sure I have the right thing..can you tell me what you firmware version is? It can be found on the mix controll under HELP>ABOUT

ok update....somehow the sample rate is staying at 48 for me know..BUT...I set my buffer at 512 in the mix control ...now I get an error saying that my audio device is using an unsupported buffer????? I look back in the mix control and it has changed itself to 256...Withc I dont get because PT supports 256, and why is it changing by itself? This is to weird!!

Mix Control version

Can you check your ASIO driver for me? It is in the System32 folder listed as : SaffireAsio.dll

Focusrite Asio

I would like to see something under 256

Tried the AsioAll and that is another heartache.

I found the asio driver in the sys.32..it is saffireasio.dll and everything reads the same as yours!

If I am lucky enough to get a session open and try a plugin I get runtime errors all over the place, and one of them sasy "Runtime Error R6016 Not enough space for thread data" this is to weird man! I sent a message to focusrite about all of this and have not herd back from them yet, probably because of the weekend, hopefully tomorrow although it is a damn holiday...Martin Luther King, Jr. Day...I really dont want to send this back..seems to work ok so far in cubase but I did not spend 245 bucks on PT 9 cross grade to not use it ya know!
