Default Slow plug-in load time

Hi

1* I am running my first TDM system. Most of the plug-ins don't insert without the system hanging for about 1 - 2 sec ( everything feezes the audio stops and 2 sec later it continues. )

2* When I open a new session, the session sometimes takes +/- 25 sec to load.

I am running PT 6.7 HD 3 Accel on a 2.5Ghz G5 with 4Gb RAM, OSX 10.3.5

I dont know anyone else with a TDM system and this is also my first Mac, I therefore have nothing to compare it to.

The whole system seems realy slow.

Is this standard, or have I installed somthing incorrectly.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks [co

These times and conditions you mention seem reasonable and average for TDM.

Welcome!

It varies. A small plugin like "Trim" will load almost instantly. A plugin like "Reverb One" that loads a lot more code or one that spans more than one DSP chip might take a few seconds. As far a session load times, same thing. Starting a new session will take more time if you have a lot of plugins that need to be registered by the system. An existing session can take a few minutes to load if there are a lot of tracks/plugins/regions to load and register.

Also, as you add more plugins, they will occasionally "Re-arrange" themselves on different chips, to optimize DSP space / sharing. and this takes time as well.
