Fast Track, Guitar Gain nob volume issues.
I have issues with my M-Audio Fast Track.
This is what it looks like: When I tried to use it today, I noticed that there's something wrong with the Gain nobs. Turning the Guitar Gain doesn't change the volume anymore. Not even if I turn it all the way down. But if I turn it all the way up, the sound get's more distorted and the Clipping indicator light lights up, like expected, but the sound VOLUME is still the same... The Output nob seem to work like it should. If I turn it all the way down then all sounds disappear, but if I crank it any higher than about 40% the sound starts to get overwhelmingly loud. It really feels like like the Guitar nob has freaked out and is permanently stuck between about 80% and 100%. Since there is still a difference when I crank it to max but there is no difference when I try to turn it down or even all the way to the bottom. This is MESSED UP and it frickin happened just over night... I was recording my guitar yesterday and everything was FINE. I haven't even TOUCHED any settings on either my USB Device or the Softwares I'm using. (It's the same in different softwares) My Fast Track has just flipped out... Do anyone know anything about this? |

Re: Fast Track, Guitar Gain nob volume issues.
Can you try it on another computer? If it does it on another computer, it sounds like the gain knob has failed and would need to be replaced.
This doesn't sound like a software or driver problem. Joel

It just really doesn't seem broken. At all. It works FINE when I'm recording. The volume is just too loud (when the volume on the interface is completely turned down to 0) and needs to be lowered in my DAW which I can totally do, that works fine, but this isn't how it used to behave so it's all just so strange. |
