DAE ERROR 1805 NOT ON ANSWERBASE - FORMATTING?
OK. So I buy a new drive (maxtor, 200Gb, 8Mb buffer, internal) which I put in my QS G4@867 w/1.5Gb RAM. There is no way I can get Disk Utility on Panther to see more than 120Gb. So I switch to OS9, use Silverlining pro and format the drive. All OK.
All OK? It ain't. When booting Panther sometime it will see the drive, sometime it won't. Now, if I start a session when Panther sees the drive, and store it in the above mentioned drive, the session will stop every now and then with a DAE error 1805. DAE error 1805 doesn't come at all on the answerbase. ANY IDEAS??? How would one format a 200Gb if not with silverlining on OS9. Why can't I do it with disk utility? Am I doing anything wrong? THANKS!!!!! |

Re: DAE ERROR 1805 NOT ON ANSWERBASE - FORMATTING?
Hi,
I think your Mac has an ATA 66 controller which limits the drive capacity to about or 128 GB when formatted. I believe you can find this information is to search apples user groups, or their support site. The best thing for you to do would be to get yourself a decent external FireWire case with the Oxford 911 chipset, that would allow you to access the whole drive. I hope this helps.
