No update, still have the problem - MacOS 14.3 and PT 2023.12.1

I generally have crashes or issues mostly during recording and playback. So I've resorted to being hands off until the take is finished to move clips, fade clips, navigate my edit window swiftly. Also Cmd+S about every 2.3 seconds (as I should anyway lol)

Like most others here, I'm patiently waiting for an update (more-so from AVID) to help with these issues.

Things aren't un-usable, by any means...but my workflow has been throttled and I'd be lying if I said it didn't drive me crazy sometimes.

Well, when I tested it I just used the Pro Tools Demos session, so maybe the session wasn't large enough.

But this sort of bug can also be a teachable moment. Sometimes workarounds can lead to ideas for better workflows.

For example, why not create Memory Location Views showing just the tracks you need to see during certain tracking or mixing conditions, and maybe then with fewer tracks on screen the bug won't interrupt your workflow as much and/or scrolling might not even be needed. This is a technique I see Rerecording mixers do all the time to manage their massive sessions.

I see 14.3.1 has been released. Do we know if this has fixed the scroll crashing issue?

No, we don't. What we know, however is PT is not yet supported with Sonoma at all.

I updated OS and can't get it to crash with heavy scrolling after the Mac OS 14.3.1 update. Absolutely awesome to be able to scroll as you like again :)

The scrambling of letters is still there but I can live with me searching for sls instead of ssl. The Mac OS 14.3.1 update mentioned that it fixed replacing text when typing so I figured it would fix the text issue but not the scrolling issue.

Very happy so far!

Ah thanks for trying and letting us know. I'd love to downgrade to Ventura, but I'm on a 2023 MacBook Pro M3 Max and apparently it's not possible.

Guess we're just going to have to wait a bit longer

Reporting that my m1 laptop fell victim to the Sonoma update syndrome while I’m on the road without backups in reach. Luckily so far I’ve been able to pick up where I left off without any perceivable issues, but these are just early impressions. Moderately sized (indie) film session.

KVM- Incompatibility

The KVM that I have been using for years uses USB over HDMI
Unlike other USB devices, you do not get a "do you want to use this usb device" when using hdmi in recent versions of Sonoma. There is no "Allow all usb devices to connect" in the security settings either.

My fix was to buy a new kvm with a separate USB and HDMI cable for each remote computer.

Not ideal, but works.
