Default How do you change IRQ settings in XP Pro?

Hello,
I am trying to figure out still what is wrong with my computer. I am doing mastering with pro-tools and some waves pluggins and some out board gear. With a sterio track of audio and the mastering pluggins going out to some out board gear and comming back in a aux track I can't bounce without it being on 512 samples even 1024 sometimes depending on how the comp seems to be feeling at that moment. I already made sure that my DMA mode is on and while that helped it didn't seem to fix the problem. I found that the 001 is on IRQ 5 with the onboard promise controller. How do I Change it so that the 001 can be on it's own IRQ? And does it matter if other IRQ's are sharing? I already tried looking in my bios, but ever since I went threw and did all of the xp tweaks in the xp optimization thread, I can't seem to get into my bios, it isn't an option any more on startup. Here is the basic information about my computer, I will have to post later when I can put up all of my IRQ's, but for now here is what I know.

A7V266-e board
1600+ AMD Anthalon
512 DDR 2100
Onboard promise controller(I know I need to get a seperate card but I can't seem to find them anywhere)
2 40 gig Drives (audio and system)
4x rage fury pro graphics card (something like that)
I will tell you any more info you need to know but I'm at my work computer so maybe I can get it over lunch. Well anyway, any help would be awesome. Thanks a bunch

Installing the Digi PCI card into another slot usually forces Windows to assign the hardware another IRQ number. In addition, make sure "Plug & Play OS" is disabled in your BIOS.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Calvin,
Disable the onboard audio first. You should be able to do this in bios on startup. You may have to delete it from Device Manager also. See if that helps you out here. I believe that once you get that onboard audio off that IRQ you should be looking great. It looks like you already have Digi on IRQ 9.
Good luck,

Hello,
I was looking after this question too. Steinberg and Tascam have information about this which is about the same. Here is another page with Audio tuning tips for XP
