Default Need immediate help - hardware errors -4 and -9003 on PT HD

Hello!

Here is my system:

Mac PRO 2.8GHz 8 core with 14GB RAMM
running OS 10.5.1
ProTools version 7.4.1
HD3 Accel system
slots = video / core / accel / accel

Hardware: Lynx Aurora 8 with LT-HD card plugin in directly to core card

The errors upon startup:
When ProTools is initializing the hardware, these errors arise:
1- DAE error -4 was encountered
2- An error has occurred, please save your session and restart your computer. (-9003)

ALSO, while running the DigiTest, the DigiTest program quits unexpectedly (while running the test for buss metering)

I was able to run one of the tests with DigiTest that says that the cards (3 cards) primary and secondary peripherals are undetected. (I don't know if this matters...)

I tried deleting the databases and digi volumes folder AND deleting the 'com.digidesign.protoolsTDM.plist', 'DAE Prefs' (folder), 'DigiSetup.OSX' and 'Pro Tools preferences' in the preferences folder and restarting. NO CHANGE!

Please help!

Brian

Are you getting these errors every time you launch Pro Tools? I got a new system last week, and have seen this error a few times myself. After a couple of reboots it goes away. I haven't had time to track it down yet, though as I've been using the system on sessions.

Hi,

Make sure the flexi cables between the cards are connected in the right way/direction....

From port B (yes port B) on the core card to port A on the accel card 1

From port B on the accel card 1 to port A on accel card 2

I would also suggest uninstalling PT and deleting ALL the prefs and databases and do a clean install again. After you uninstall! repair permissions and reboot the mac, then re-install again.

Upon taking out the accel processing cards (only running the HD CORE card), the DigiTest runs through completion, but fails.

The peripheral Digital loopback test fails on channels 1-16.

Is this test looking for the external hardware????

(I am still testing each card one by one.)

This one is normal if you have not set up the Loop clock on the back. It does that on my system also.

If that is the only error you get on the core then it is OK. Attack one Accell card after another and re-do the tests.

In addition - do what Crizdee what wrote. And in addition to that boot ONLY with the digi plugs - maybe some plug is causing this.

Also - if you have any 3rd pty applications installed that running concurrently with PT - Quit them and make sure that they aint running in the background - like Antivirus software or Techtools PRO etc...

Good Luck

Also - did you use SW update to go to 10.5.1 - if so - dont ever do that again. ALWAYS go the Apple.com and download the combo installer if past 10.5.1 and the updater if you on the 10.5.0 (Obviously there cannot be a combo updater for a 10.5.0 version

Thanks, 25 Ghosts....

The flex cables are accurate.

I'm still working on the other cards one step at a time.

the updated status...

I have done all of the previous suggestions...

The core card works, but when I put in the 2nd (accel processing card) I get the following error:

"Too many slots on the TDM2 bus - could indicate an unplugged audio interface or a mismatch of sync source and session sample rate. (-6075)"

Can anyone explain this, or help out in any way?

Thanks,

Brian

The final conclusion - a BAD Accel card.

Thank you for all of the help!
