can HD8 license open HD7 software?

quick question: can a later HD license open an earlier version of the software?

scenario: i finally upgraded to HDX, and did an exchange so had to surrender an HD license to get the new one.

i have a few different HD licenses in my ilok acct, and may need to do recalls in the future for the version i traded in (HD 7). every time i do a PT upgrade i rebuild a new drive from scratch, and save the old one in the exact state i left it; makes recalls from previous versions a breeze--just pop the drive in, load up the session and go exactly as it was on the day i mixed it.

does this mean my HD7 drive is finished now? i no longer have an HD 7 license on my ilok!

i have a few later HD versions (8,9,10) on my ilok, will any of those allow the HD7 software to launch if i ever need to boot up that drive?

You do need a very specific PT7 license for whatever version you want to be using. PT7.4 does not open PT7.3 and so on. That was the time when all point updates had their own license.

PT8 however opens all PT8.x.y versions out there.
