Digi PRE clarification
Hi my friends ,
I have some questions for you concerning the Digi Pre : I want to use it as a 8 channels DI to track my hardware synths but: -Do you think I will encounter ground loop's issue with it as it doesn't have any ground lift switch for this purpose ? -Does the pad affect only Mic's inputs or line and instrument's inputs as well ? -Are unbalanced connections ,with mono jacks (TS) , supported ? This preamp has a lot of features which really interest me ,so your help is well appreciated ! Thanks!

Re: Digi PRE clarification
1. Only as much as you would with any other piece of gear. If done properly, ground loops shouldn't be an issue.
2. Yes, the pad works with both Mic and Line inputs. 3. Yes |

When you say in answer #1 "if done properly...." , what does that mean ? Do I have to do something special to avoid ground loops ?

Re: Digi PRE clarification
Proper studio wiring is the general answer. A ground loop is caused by more than one path to ground. The most common cause of it I've seen has been gear connected to two different electrical outlets(that are on separate circuits, thus each having a different length ground path back to the breaker/fuse panel). But any connection that creates more than one path to ground can be the culprit(2 pieces of gear mounted to the same metal rack rails technically creates another path to ground through the rack rails, assuming the chassis is grounded on both devices.

Re: Digi PRE clarification
So, to avoid this , do I have to connect all the chain to the same electrical outlet ? :
Synthesizer > Digi PRE > Digi 192 I/O > MAC PRO > Display Maybe I will need an electrical distribution box or something like that ???? Not to mention the other gear I have to connect (preamp/comp/fx etc...)
