Default OMNI I/O Confusion

Hello!
I'm trying my new HDX/OMNI-system and I'm confused about the I/O-mapping.
I've assigned each of the four analog hardware inputs to 4 mono input busses I created. Very simple setup.
The thing that bothers me is that when I send a signal from my external preamp to omni Line input #2, I receive the same signal on Line input #1. Both inputs are flashing on my OMNI meters AND it's the same within Pro Tools.
If I want to hear the Input 2 signal, I may as well choose Input 1 because they're both giving me the same. (Nothing is connected to input #1 right now, but still the corresponding meter on the OMNI inputs is flashing)

Please, tell me what I'm not getting!
Thanks!
CJ Grimmark

Just to clarify: I have now tried everything I can think of and it seems like
OMNI Line input 2 is always dead and OMNI Line input 1 works fine.

But, signal connected to Input 1 makes the Input 2 meter bar on OMNI flash and obviously sends signal to the bus routed to hardware input 2 as well.

Is it possible at all to understand what I'm trying to say? :)

Check your i/o settings in protools setup. They both may be set for 2.

Make sure you're not assigning analog ins to 1 and 2 instead of 1

Do an Omni reset on the omni itself. It may be off. I had to do that.

Turn OFF the Omni mixer in thta Hardware setup. It may be monitoring inputs on its own.

Hey Cliffy_Boy!
Thank You very much.
I checked all I/O's again and it all looks perfect to me.
However, I did a reset on the OMNI as You suggested.
Suddenly both inputs work on the front (INST) but when I switch to Line and move the cables to the back jacks, only number TWO works (!) which is the opposite of the previous situation.

The freaks me out

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

how do you have your preamps connected to line 1 and line 2? Are you're preamps set up properly for line in or mic in? I sometimes forget to switch them from line to mic and I get no signal from a mic, or vice versa. I would look at the signal chain going in.

I just had to send in one of my 2 OMNIs for repair due to extremely low input signal on ch.2. They sent me back a new unit, so it might be something to do with a certain gen of the OMNIs. Just guessing though, I don't have anything other than speculation to back that up.

Hi again.
I sent a message to AVID and the said they'll send me a new unit. I had it the next day, which is FAST as they sent it from Holland to Sweden.
Excellent support from AVID!!
With the new unit it's all up and running well!
Take care
