Default Waveforms Not Displaying Accurately. Anybody?

Hello Friends, I'm looking for a solution to this problem.

I started this album on PT 8 (HD) and then moved to another system (using the same drive) for overdubs (PT LE 7.4cs5). All previously recorded files are displayed accurately, however when I record new tracks, the waveforms are either not displayed or displayed inaccurately.

A quick fix is to select the file area (edit or list) and select "Recalculate Waveform Overviews". However, doing this after recording every piece of audio is VERY tedious.

I've also tried deleting the "WaveCache.wfm" file in each Song Folder AND deleting the Digidesign Databases folder AND "Save As". This worked on a couple of songs, but the problem has returned on all songs now.

I realize there is a cs update, however I don't see anything about this problem in the description and I'm wary of updating mid-project.

Any ideas or solutions you might have would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

Alex

P.s. I've done many projects on this system as it is and have never seen this problem here. I believe it has something to do with either starting HD and moving to LE or starting in PT8 and moving back to 7.4 or both.

The only time I've had something like this is when making a new track and the default was not waveform but rather the selection above it.

I updated to 7.4cs9 and it did not solve the problem...

Audiosuite processes also result in a waveform display absence.

Scratching my head here...

Maybe if it was recorded on a system that had the waveform calculation bug and then you moved it to something newer, the wave form never recalculated itself, so its still showing the wrong waveform. I had this problem when using PT MP 7.4. It was fixed for me in the 7.4cs.8 update. Waveforms that were recorded before the update did need to be recalculated.

Select tracks with messed up waveforms, open your region list and select "Recalculate Waveform Overviews", from the drop down menu. If that doesn't solve your problem then something else is going on, but I'm 99% sure it will.

You can also delete the WaveShell file in the session folder. PT will recalculate the Waveforms next time you open it up.

I do however prefer the "Recalculate Waveform Overviews" option. Its quick and painless, and inside a session, so you can see the results right away.
