Default bouncing sometimes excludes v-instruments

(I won't use the word bug...) rather an issue, where when I bounce a session to mp3, sometimes it excludes my virtual instruments, and sometimes it doesn't.

I did trash prefs earlier in the week, but that was due to a EuCon issue, which I resolved, I haven't trashed prefs again yet...

Sometimes if I select another track, then come back to the master track and try to bounce again, it's resolved. Sometimes it takes three tries before it gets everything. I may try trashing prefs again, and if persists I'll open a case. Just posting here incase anyone else noticed the issue.

I'm on 2023.12

This is not a definitive answer, but more a speculative and anecdotal one. I have noticed that some VIs that I own (especially ones that use heavy multi-sampled sources) sometimes do not like to play back during offline rendering (be it Bounce, Commit, or Freeze), especially if I am pushing my CPU or have a lot of latency/delay compensation in the session. I have attributed this to the specific instruments and not to PT, and will often do a real-time print to an Audio Track of the finicky instrument so that it is not an issue when I Bounce mixes and stems.

Thanks Kerry, oddly it's xpand, a PT plug, so I'd hope they could handle that.

I'm barely touching CPU and memory... Thanks for the idea of a realtime bounce of the VI. THat's not a bad idea. Sadly I forgot to mention it's not grabbing some of the busses w/ delay & verb either. So it's a weird thing.

Paul

It's so easy to bounce the wrong source in Pro Tools, all of us have made that mistake (many times, sigh). You might have carefully checked this already, but I have to ask... check carefully what source you are bouncing in the bounce dialog box, make sure that is the physical output you are monitoring, which is presumably what you want here. Don't be tricked by similar looking names or any mess in Setup>IO etc. That's sure my first guess if you are missing multiple things... esp. just missing the VI by itself

Thanks for this Darryl. The thing is, I'll bounce, then just tweak a compressor or a level, and renounce, and missing audio. I'll click off the selected Master track, on something else, click back and bounce again and it's fine. No settings are getting changed. It literally happens between checking a file and tweaking a level or a compressor or something.

I can do this 10 times and reproduce it 5 times randomly. I'll trash prefs.... reboot and try again.
