Re: move studio to london from usa
Audio connections should be the same. You will either need to replace all your power supplies or get a bunch of small or one huge voltage matching transformer.

Re: move studio to london from usa
I've made the move to Europe and back twice. You can use step-up transformers, but they're not cheap and you'll find them to be a nuisance. I would say it's best to just take everything that doesn't have a 110/220 switch into a shop and have local internal power supplies installed. It's a little expensive, but not outrageous. Just hang on to the 110 supplies, cuz you never know. You'll also need to buy new power chords for everything. I would buy everything there to make sure it works right.
Good move, by the way. |

Re: move studio to london from usa
depending on what you have:
new equipment should be switchable manual/auto (just get new power cables) some equipment will be ok w/ transformer some might not be usable do to the UK being 50Hz and the US being 60Hz power (early digital and video come to mind) you could get a regenerator system, and make your own 110V 60Hz power

Re: move studio to london from usa
thanks for the info, basically I have 3 Equitech power conditioners that everything in my studio plugs into. I currently have 1 plug coming out of the wall and everything else runs from the Equitechs.
so if i got one converter I could then run everything off the Equitechs as always? (inluding my existing cords coming out of Equitechs to gear?) |

Re: move studio to london from usa
check w/ Equitech to see fi the units you have will do the 220 to 110 conversion.
That won't help the 50/60 Hz difference. Regen is the only way I know to deal w/ that problem

Re: move studio to london from usa
OK, so heres what I found out so far
the VP 20 will work for all switchable gear http://www.voltage-converter-transfo...-adapter2.html Question: Can i buy 1 of the adaptors and plug my US power strip into the UK outlet (with the adaptor on the end) and then plug my US gear into the US power strip. For the non switchable, im hoping to get by with the VOD 1500 - High Voltage Transformers http://www.voltage-converter-transfo...-2.html#vd3000 still adding up all of my wattage... |
