Producing in the Home Studio with Pro Tools, 2nd Edition
Intended for beginner and intermediate Pro Tools LE users, Producing in the Home Studio with Pro Tools, 2nd Edition by David Franz significantly expands upon his first edition’s coherent, do-it-yourself approach with fresh, engaging practical enhancements including hands-on, genre-specific song projects backed by Pro Tools sessions. In this edition, he also addresses and explains Pro Tools 6.x software, digital audio editing, each of the Pro Tools LE family members (Digi 002, Digi 001, Mbox and ToolBox), and much more. Buy a copy in the DigiStore.

do a search for Bob Katz - I think its called secrets of thge mastering engineer but it seems very strong on mixing. Do a serach on the DUC for Bob Katz over the last year - a lot of other books are mentioned in the Katz threads.

I have it. If it's the one I'm thinking about it's interviews with a series of great engineers; they talk about approach, some broad gear preferences. Nothing about "try this mic placement" or put exactly this amount of reverb on this track. I'm not sure if you were looking for really definite exercises and techniques, this book is a little more broad.

Cool book though, I still haven't finished it, though.

good luck.

Polyph i have Golden Ears (isn't a book but it works to increase your ears skills) mixing really don't have a formula, it's all about yours ears, my advice is that you chose a ref CD (with the dessired sound) and to mix comparing it with your session. However i'll tall you if i find some book abut it.
