Default Installing from scratch on a new CPU.

Picking up a new G5 and installing PT TDM (HD3) from scratch.

Anyone know the specific updates required for this undertaking. i.e 6.0 to 6.4 to 6.7 to 6.9.3cs?

After final PT 6.9.3 install, I plan to just copy my Plug-In folder.

Which installer CD do you have? A new shipping version should have 6.9

Hi,

Yes as Rail said, you'll most probably get 6.9 install CD, 6.9 is fine for the initial install then you'll need to upgrate to 6.9.2 for tiger immediately (note that 6.9 will not run on tiger, so don't try to boot pro tools untill you have upgraded 6.9 to 6.9.2!!)

You can install 6.9.2 for tiger on any version from 6.4 onwards.

Once 6.9.2 is installed you can then install 6.9.3cs2 and that should be it untill 7

Excellent, thx. 6.4/6.9.2/6.9.3cs2

My post was unclear. I'm moving my rig from a G4 to a G5. My last PT CDROM was 6.4.

Cheers

OK - no prob.

1. use apple setup assistant - it will move lots of stuff over for you via firewire.
2. Run PT installer and REMOVE PT from the new machine
3. Run PT installer and install 6.4 -- restart, but do not launch
4. run 6.9.2 updater
5. make sure plugins are updated
6. run PT 6.9.3cs2 updater
7. update PACE ilok drivers

Restart frequently when promted. DO NOT launch PT until all updates are complete.

Obviously, make sure you have latest versons of all plugins.

This is how I did it from my G4 to my current G5.

And run Apple Disk Utility to repair permissions.

If you Have DiskWarrior or TechTools Pro update to latest versions, previous versions don't work with 10.4.

If you Have Granite Digital FW 400 drives bigger than 120GB, dounload the updater.
