How to improve the system 5 MC
I know I can probably post my feature requests to Ideascale but there isn't that many system 5-MC users so I don't think I will get many votes.
So here are some ideas that would improve the system 5-MC, a lot : 1-A Layout should be recalled properly even when some tracks are hidden. Currently, we have to "show all tracks" to have layouts recalled properly. 2-Problem creating layouts with physical faders: In "Layout mode" you may select the tracks you want for a layout with the physical faders but once you have reach the maximum number of physical faders the only way to add more tracks to your layout is to use the matrix window because you can not bank neither nudge while in "layout mode". This is really counter productive... Solution: Banking and nudging should be enable in "layout mode" and the jog wheel should automatically switch to a "scroll thru tracks" mode in order to be able to select other tracks. Once out of the "Layout mode" the jog wheel should go back to his last "eucon" setting (move selection or horizontale zoom for example) 3-Updating a layout should be easier: Here is how it should work: 1-Hit the "layout mode" button 2-recall the layout you want to edit (all tracks already in the layout should be selected by default) 3-Use banking, nudging or the jog wheel and select any channel you want to add or remove. The added tracks should be assigned automatically to the next available faders in the layout. 4-save the layout 4-There should be a "eucon" command for "Create a layout with current tracks selection" 5-There should be a preference to disable the "unmute all" button (just beside the "solo clear" on the system 5 MC). Please feel free to add your wishes list. I believe Avid is reading a lot of posts and our dreams may come true...

Add a fanless, high quality, reliable PSU for the MC Pro to that.

Re: How to improve the system 5 MC
Sometime a session gets corrupted and we loose the track layouts. We should be able to "Import layouts" from a previous session using the "import session data" window.

Import /export soft keys
We spend tremendous amount of time fine tuning and creating soft keys. We save those into "UserSets" but loading a "UserSet" does allow enough flexibility. You might want to use some clever soft keys from other "UserSets". We should be able to import /export single soft key or soft key sections (all soft keys from one section) to any"UserSet". This would also allow system 5 MC users to share soft keys with other system 5 MC owner, without screwing his own "UserSet".

Re: How to improve the system 5 MC
Brandonx1,
You can save and load "UserSets" but if you load a "UserSet" you erase the active one. This is good when you have 5 different freelances working at the same facility. They can quickly load their "UserSets" and have the soft keys where they need them. Or you can use them for different tasks for example dialog editing,mixing,recording... If you quit the MC application and esc to the Window OS, I read that you can find xml files in the user sets. But this is not really practical and takes a long time. What we need is within the "MC" application to be able to save soft keys page (Left soft keys, centre soft keys, or the right soft keys) like we save a "UserSet". It should work like this: 1-Go to file menu 2-Press "new soft key group" 3-select: Left, centre,Right or All 4-Save under a new name In a "UserSet" you have an infinite number of Soft key page. This would only save the soft keys page on the first layer (the ones that you see).

Re: How to improve the system 5 MC
MC smart switch icons
Setting up the smart switches for custom user sets can be real chore because of the way the icon browser works. The icons should be shown in the icon selector, instead of showing names. It would make selection MUCH faster. |
