My brand new Macbook pro can't power my USB Mbox 2 pro . Why not?

Can ANYONE help me!? I just got a new macbook pro last month Aug/2011 just for audio and production. I installed protools 7.3 and when plugging my Mbox in the power lights on it are very dim and Protools says Unable to locate digidesign hardware. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and better yet how I can fix it? I tried diiferent USB cables, different USB ports, I tried connecting through an AC powered USB hub, I also have a crap PC on which the same software was installed and it works fine on that. Right now my mac OS is Lion 10.7.1. does this have something to do with PT 9 and earlier not working on Lion!? This is absolute madness!! I have mixing and editing to do and I went out and bought this computer with the sole intention of using Protools and now I can't because my OS is too new!?

This is just ridiculous !!! Why was Avid not ready for the launch of a new OS? How long will it take before I can run Protools 7.3 or 8 on my Lion OS? How long before we get updates/patches?

Could anyone advise me on if I can install leopard so I can get on with ym work?

Sounds like not a software issue but that it's not getting enough juice from the port, but it's puzzling that it's the same through a powered hub, which should work if that were the case.

What happens if you try another bus powered USB peripheral, like a portable drive?

Other USB devices work fine. Drives are fine, mice are fine too. No issues there. I was wondering if it could be an issue with the drivers on Lion. I have yet to hear about anyone else having this problem with Lion....though AVID states that there is no support for PT with Lion except for a 9.0.5 update.
