Default Snapshot strategies etc.....

In an effort to spur some activity here:

Does it bug anyone else that in order to store or even capture settings they have to be "writing" unless you use Option Capture to get them all?

What ways are you using Captures and Snaps and how are you doing it? Obviously Latch Prime In Stop helps especially for those small sections of songs where there isn't enough time to punch in and then also capture your settings. Sound familiar??

Let's share some workflows!!!

The "has to be writing" thing bugs me too but I use that when I only want to capture one or two things. In fairness, I can't see another way this could be implemented.

If it's a whole track state I want, like all the positions of one or more plugins on a track, plus the level, panning, etc. I just leave it in stop and use option-shift-capture which just grabs everything on the selected track(s).

Sometimes if I'm using different EQ states across a track and I'm being lazy, I'll just tap tap tap tap all the EQ pots (with Latch Prime In Stop on) and then capture that. Punch it, put the cusor in the next spot, etc etc.

Mikey,
Thanks for the response. This is exactly the type of dialog I was hoping to get going. To be clear, the Option-Shift Capture method works on selected channels or channels in Latch?

Hey Drew I just tested it and it's even more flexible than I said, but sometimes it's hard to remember which modes you're allowed to be in or not be in.

You don't have to be in any special mode to do the Capture - even Read is fine. Only selected tracks will be captured and EVERY automation enable parameter will be captured on those tracks.

option-shift-capture.

Then to punch the capture, the destination tracks need to be in a write mode, though even Trim is OK. (This is where it's sometimes confusing. Some other functions must use Latch).

It's awesome to have so much power though!
