RTAS Engine Weaknesses with Multiple Processors Clicks, Buzzes,.. etc.
I've been experiencing strange things when using more than one CPU of my MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz / 2 GB
I work on preproduction sessions in the range of 16 mono audio / 2 instr / 8 mono aux / with ca. 20 RTAS Plugins (Mainly Digi Stuff, 2-3 Smacks!, 2 Massey TD5, FX Pansion EZ Drummer) and rendered mode elastic time on all audio tracks. When I use the following settings I'm usually able to mix and bounce a finished project: Buffer 2048 CPU 1 Limit 95% (Standard for other values) But if I try this I always get strange clicks, buffer errors, DAE whatever, ... Buffer 512 - 1024 CPU 2 Limit 85% (Standard for other values) It doesn't seem to matter if I use Digi002 Rack or MBox micro... but I'll do some more investigations... Another strange phenomenon is that even if the project is stopped the RTAS CPU Load indicator seems pretty busy (75% - 90 %). This also occurs in 1 CPU mode. Are there any enhancements planned in order for he RTAS Engine to make better use of the multiprocessor power? Betas? Verbose Modes? |
