Select Unused Files not really efficient...
Hi !
I'm having some difficulties after trying to clean unused audio and region files. Could someone please explain me why there are still unused region files that are not selected by protools. For verifying that, I simply select all the regions on all the tracks in the edit window, and see that there are a lot of region files (and audio too??) that are not used in the session nor in the undo menu (there is nothing in the edit/undo menu because I just start pro tools, and there are no playlists too). Re: Select Unused Files not really efficient...
Nese,
If there are edits/processing on the tracks, their references still remain to their parent "audio file".. Once the session is ready for mixing/archiving with all tracks consolidated, the "select unused + remove/clear" should clean up the region bin, and/or the session's audio folder. Does this help ? happy tooling,

Re: Select Unused Files not really efficient...
Are you suggesting that you already did Regions/Select/Unused+Remove and/or Delete, and there still appear to be many unused regions and files in the list? How about hidden tracks?

Re: Select Unused Files not really efficient...
Thanks for your answers !
There was no hidden tracks and you are suggesting very well, daeron80. Actually, I have tried to clean only region files with "select unused except wholes files", because pro tools is unable to make a diiference between wholes files that are used in a track (or many tracks) and wholes files that are not used in a session... And the only way was to consolidate all before cleaning as Lemix suggests. No way to keep editing as it was and mixing with it... Maybe for an other update, thanks again lemix ! |
