It Means: Bump it to the top of the Forum Food Chain. It is a selfish meneuver to get everybody to look at your posts that they previously obviously didnt care about....I do it all the time. Usually, as a way of escaping public criticism for being selfish, I disguise it better then "BUMP". For example, sometimes, if I have something I really want to express, and no one replies within, say, 3 or 4 hours, I will write another post within the topic, it will probably start off with something like:

"Oh by the way...." or,
"I fogot to mention....",
"Also....",

one of my favorites is:
"I wonder if this forum is working, no one seems to respond to my messages..."

You see, mere editing of your message will not bring it to the top of what I now pronouce as the..( DRUM ROLL PLEASE ) FORUM FOOD CHAIN!!!
You need to actually add a new post.

In short: It moves a post to the top.

Well, since there has been no response from Digi about making a rack-mounted 002, I would have to assume that Digi is not sure themselves if they want to do this. Clearly, this would please a lot of users here who already have a control surface or mixer. I would like to encourage Digi to just GO FOR IT!!!

Digidesign is within inches of totally crushing the competition! Only thing I would recommend is an option for an additional 8 lightpipe In and Out, and of course, GSIF and Rewire support. Do it, Digi! Think CRUSH!!!

Digi puts a lot of Bang-for-the-buck in every product
and they have done it again with the 002.
It's hard on the competitors I'm sure.
There seems to be a problem with the 002
even though it is a good deal for something with a control surface included
it seems very few people a ready to dish out the bucks because they don't really need a control surface.

I vote yes for rack mount, firewire, more mic pre's, higher sample rate, but the rest.....mmmm

up

The 002 is going to be gangbusters for people longing for the MOTU-type interface but wanting PT on Windows. Or for someone starting out with no gear. Add monitors and you're off.

[It comes too late for me, really, as my Mackie outboard mixer and 001 are performing pretty much the same duty except for the moving faders and dedicated control surface, so a rackmount version of something I don't need... ? I'd love to have an outboard controller such as the 002, but at the expense of sidelining $2,000 worth of gear, it seems like a poor choice right now.]

I think the thread may be asking to eliminate one of the main reasons to buy a 002 anyway, which is the motorized faders. Mabie what you need are rackmount ears for the 002?

I'd prefer an even more capable and powerful mixer/controller myself. Roland is releasing a Logic based unit with 12 channels and a surround sound joystick, which looks pretty sweet. Of course it's Roland and Logic...

But what the heck, options are the spice of musical life. I say rack one up for these guys.
