"Back and Play" keyboard shortcut gone after update to 2023.6
I've just updated for the first time in a couple of years and it seems back and play has been removed from the keyboard shortcuts?
It there another way to jump back a bar or so from a keyboard shortcut? I find back and play very useful, I was previously using an artist transport for this when it was only available on control surfaces but then it became a keyboard shortcut a few years ago. I had Y assigned to it, which was great as I no longer accidentally moved clips to the start of the session accidentally, and it's generally a super useful function when mixing. EDIT - found the answer - I changed to a subscription to studio, thinking it would be sufficient, but previously was using ultimate with a perpetual licence. It seems back and play is an ultimate only feature... I never saw mention of this before. Very annoying. Any thought how I might replicate back and play behaviour with sound flow? |

I can't help but I offer sympathy. Of all the features they lock for ultimate this one seems very stingy.

Re: "Back and Play" keyboard shortcut gone after update to 2023.6
Thanks, yeah it's pretty mean IMO.
What annoys me is before I decided to go with a studio subscription instead of renewing support for my ultimate perpetual licence I carefully read through the extended comparison page: and it doesn't mention it anywhere, nor does it say that there are other differences not mentioned and to consult the manual or anything, so I felt pretty confident. I must hit back and play several hundred times a day so I'm probably going to have to go ahead and update my perpetual licence anyway and will have wasted the money on this studio sub. |

COMMAND+K SPACE BAR COMMAND +K that should behave about the same as back and play. |

There’s nothing about ‘back and play’ that requires hardware. It’s simply ridiculous that it’s an ultimate only feature.

Agreed, definitely a workaround, it’s the closest without paying extra for ultimate.

Re: "Back and Play" keyboard shortcut gone after update to 2023.6
In any version, hitting 1 on the numpad will move your cursor back by one bar if your Numeric Keypad pref is set to the default of Transport. I've been using 1-Space on vanilla since PT 6.x.
Caveat: it only does one bar when your main ruler is Bars|Beats. For the Min:Sec ruler, it moves back one second. For the TC ruler, it moves back one frame.
