Pro Tools 2022.9 hanging when quitting

Hello Everyone is anyone else having an issue when closing out Pro Tools and it pretty much gets to the end and then I have to Force Quit because it hangs on "Closing Session... Audio File Catalog". Other then that, it's been solid on an M1 Pro Mac.

Quite possibly a corrupt session or a bad plugin. You need to troubleshoot.

I'm having the same issue (hanging on quittting) since upgrading to 2022.9, iMac 2019 3.6 GHz Intel Core i3 running Mac OS 10.14.6

Where "bad plugin" == any plugin incompatible with your exact OS and you exact Pro Tools version... and you've changed that so...

Start by trashing prefs.

Moving all .aaxplugin files out of the plugin folder etc.

Doing all the other standard troubleshooting.

You have to go do this work, it's just pointless to ask what others might guess the problem is.

Hi there. Did anyone ever get any resolution to this? I'm having the same issue on PT 2023.6.0.110 and Ventura 13.3.1. It happens on every session including empty sessions. I have removed all .aax plugins from the plugin folder so it only launches with Avid's own AIR plugs but still needs an old force quit...

Pretty sure it is happening to many folks, I was too lazy to try too much detective work here, I just switched to closing sessions then exiting Pro Tools.

If you remove all plugin files on a Mac then Pro tools will automagically put back its *core* plugins. These are not what would be called the Air plugins…. air instruments and effects plugins are separate installers and not core plugins.

You're right, it's the core plugins that load automatically. I see on another thread that an admin has stepped in due to the number of users having the same issue and that a case has been logged (04647081) so fingers crossed there's some movement on it in the near future.

Closing sessions first - enables Pro Tools to quit normally for you?

I always close sessions (Cmd+Shift+W) before quitting - it's 50/50 whether Pro Tools will hang on close for me.

I've been watching the threads, but I'll just Force Quit when necessary until they figure it out and release an update.

Just picking up on this thread.It's a new behavior for me since I got my Mac Studio M1. Running under Rosetta because some of my favorite plugs have not been updated for Silicon yet; seems more stable running native.

It always freezes for me whether quitting or closing.

I've been watching the threads, but I'll just Force Quit when necessary until they figure it out and release an update.

I'm on 2023.3, on a perpetual license- and my 1 year of updates ran out a month ago! Does that mean I'm stuck with this behavior forever unless I subscribe when they have a fix?
