Playback Engine setup page opinion
Hi, I would like to get some of your opinions as to how you would set up your Playback engine page (Hw Buffer/ Delay compensation etc. etc.)for PT 10 if you were using a similar system to my own. I'm not being lazy, I respect that a lot of you would have more experience in this than myself. Windows 7 64 bit, with MBox 2 Pro (probably 2nd gen.) 8 gb ram, Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 processor, Asus P5k Deluxe MB, 10,000 rpm WD raptor for OS drive with 2 X 7200 rpm WD drives (Audio sessions and Instruments) I use Strike, Ik Multimedia Fender amp program, mostly recording Vocal, guitars, midi Strike drums and a bit of Midi Keyboard stuff
And all this with Reverb, Compressor, Delay, EQ processing etc. How would you set up your Playback Engine page for this? Thank you J.

Re: Playback Engine setup page opinion
Well, I would say maximum buffer is always a safer option - the only inconvenience it causes is real time latency when playing your MIDI keyboard, so decrease your buffer when recroding your
midi passages, and use a safe 1000 ms buffer at all other times. And, surely, long delay compensation setting is a pretty much a standard these days. Happy mixing! |

Re: Playback Engine setup page opinion
If I'm using MIDI or recording, like the person above me wrote - I start with everything on minimum and make sure the ignore errors during playback is unchecked. If the load gets too heavy for minimums I gradually start stepping up buffer etc. When mixing and editing I set everything at the pt defaults with the short delay compensation (longer if you have plugins that require more)
